Media Expert and Instructional Technologist

    A driven and dedicated journalist and teacher who is passionate about informing the public and teaching students to reach their full potential and feel successful, I am excited to be considered as a prospect for joining your organization. I am a lover of technology and I am not hesitant when it comes to trying new things. I am very enthusiastic when it comes to teaching about technology, and working with others in sharing my knowledge and skills. 

    Technology moves as the speed of light, sometimes faster, so it is critical that education, organizations, and businesses continue as well. I can provide expertise, new knowledge, and exciting ways to incorporate technology to engage everyone, whether it be in a classroom, one-on-one, training, or professional development. 

    I am a life-long learner. I am always looking to broaden my horizons and add more to my skillset. My knowledge and skills would easily fit into your team and environment. My passion for education, technology, and learning, along with my experience as a leader, former business owner, and classroom teacher, would make me a great assist to your institution. 

MEDIA

I spent 24 years as a professional newspaper journalist and business owner. As a reporter, I covered many aspects of my communities, including education, sports, government, features, investigative stories, and human interests. I have skilled knowledge in copy editing and use of Associated Press Style. 

I created and managed five social media sites (Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube) for my newspaper business. Social media is a field that I have studied extensively and feel capable of managing for any organization. I also manage three social media sites (Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube) for the local school district. 

GRAPHIC DESIGN

I am Canva Design Certified, skilled in Mailchimp, Adobe Express, and Adobe InDesign. I have designed everything from print products, such as newspapers, magazines, business cards, advertisements, envelopes, posters, banners, logos, to digital products like social media posts and advertisements, websites, email newsletters and blogs. My designs have won several state and national awards. Graphic Design is not a job, but a passion that I have to help people achieve whatever their design goals. 

PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEOGRAPHY

I am skilled in Adobe Photoshop and I am currently working on my Photoshop Certification. I am a self-taught photographer. My expertise is mainly with Canon Cameras. In the world of video, I am skilled with Canon Video Cameras. I have just begun learning Adobe Premier Pro video editing software. I have knowledge with WeVideo editing software and Movavi Video Software. I have helped produce a biweekly school broadcast and livestream sporting events. 

TECHNOLOGY

I am highly skilled in all Microsoft Office applications, Google Classroom/Suite, and educational technology programs, such as Blooket, and EdPuzzle. I am highly trained in media literacy and digital citizenship, using curriculums from ISTE, News Literacy Project, and Common Sense Media. 

With the new world of Generative AI coming about, I became certified in MagicSchool AI all three levels and in their Creator Course with Adobe Express Certification. 

THE FUTURE

I am completing my master's degree in Educational Instructional Technology. I continually try to stay informed on technology trends, including the AI world. I will continually collaborate with fellow experts in my field, as well as attend conferences and professional development trainings. I would ultimately like to write my own curriculum on digital citizenship and media literacy for grades Pre-K through 12.
